Vision Statement

The Vision statement can contain details about how the organization will implement the mission statement. Here are some candidate phrases:
A bi-county region including the communities from Cisco grove, through Kingvale, PlaVada, Soda Springs and Serene Lakes, and up to the Rainbow Bridge at the Summit.

Providing a channel for existing community organizations to speak with a common voice to coordinate the responses serve as a clearinghouse for government agencies interested in hearing the concerns and ideas of the community.

Allowing the membership to determine priorities and developing a consensus on issues affecting the entire summit area.

Seeking funding from governmental and other sources for improvements to the community.

Facilitating development in concert with preservation and maintenance of the rural character of the area.

Changes are coming. Help us control them.

Comments:
Anne, can you describe the Venn diagram elements in the SBC document that you showed us?

On "Vision" - let me start with an example of vision statement from the Calif. Assn. of Winegrape Growers:

"California winegrape growers are valued as the world's best. CAWG, as the leading advocate, develops and delivers programs, services and information to ensure the continued economic vitality of California winegrape growers."

So I think of a vision statement as reflecting how we want our communities to look in the future. Then we can add specific priorities along the lines of what you posted on the website.

So, for a vision, I would recommend:

"The communities of Donner Summit are economically viable, environmentally healthy and socially sound. The Donner Summit Area Association provides a common voice, making it an effective advocate for responsible growth that preserves the region's unique history, social atmosphere and rural character."

It needs work, but maybe it will advance the discussion.

In answer to Dan's question, the three circles symbolizing SBC's capital investment diagram are social, natural and financial.
