New Royal Gorge Entrance

Royal Gorge opened up the new "reindeer" entrance to the trail system located across the street from Ice Lakes Lodge (soon reindeer Lodge?). The entrance does not use the county road, but instead has two trails leading off to the left and right of the road. The left trail leads up to reindeer and the Ice Lakes trail system and Bogus Basin warming hut. The right trail leads down to Sunnyside and out to Point Mariah.

The RG staffer manning the entrance was aware that the county road is not owned by Royal Gorge and that it is completely open to public access.

There is no public parking at this new trailhead aside from one or two spaces on the ungroomed portion of the county road. The Ice Lakes Lodge parking lots are currently roped off because the Lodge is still closed. The idea is that locals can use the entrance by walking from their homes (or, if lucky, having their spouse drop them off!).

Bravo to Royal Gorge for providing this access point to Serene Lakes residents!
