Royal Gorge Scientific Peer Review
The Sierra Club, Mountain Area Preservation Fund, North Fork American River Alliance, the Sierra Business Council and the Donner Summit Area Association entered into formal negotiation process with Royal Gorge LLC to review the scientific data collected by the North Fork Associates for the proposed development on Donner Summit. The Serene Lakes Property Owners Association participated as an observer to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by the other four groups. The two primary purposes of the MOU were:
- Maintain open lines of communication between concerned citizen groups and Royal Gorge LLC, and
- Initiate a third party peer review process of the North Fork Associates biological resources and wetland delineation studies.
The documents generated during the Scientific Peer Review process are now available to the public. The Biological Resource Assessment details the plant and animal species on the Royal Gorge lands. The Wetlands Delineation document describes how the wetlands were mapped in the associated wetlands map.
